Thornbury's main street is a wonderful place to wander, discovering lovely retail and food shops, fine restaurants and spas. In the summer, it is always fun to people watch from the coffee house and bakery outdoor seating. You have to experience the annual "Olde Fashioned Christmas" decor and various seasonal activities.
Head up the road to Clarksburg to see all the famous art galleries and historic spots. This is also the home of the annual "yellow duckie" water race and the speciality Honey House.
Follow the road back to the lovely harbour and beach area to see the sailboats in the harbour. Every fall tourists and locals gather at the Thornbury Bridge to observe the trout and salmon leaping and struggling up the fish ladder. Don't miss brunch at "the Orchid".
Thornbury is close to great ski hills and the highly rated Georgian Bay Club and Lora Bay golf courses. It is 15 minutes to Collingwood and all its amenities. The hockey arena is a popular venue and is constantly full of skaters. Roller blade ramps are located in the recreation park. Hiking and biking trails abound as the Bruce Trail passes through sections of the town. Mountain bikers and cross country skiers are attracted to the Kolapore region nearby. Rock climbers love the Metcalfe Rock and the Duncan Crevice Nature reserve.
